FEBRUARY 1990
Dr. Filutowski starts his practice.
Dr. Filutowski starts his first practice in an executive office building in Daytona Beach with one employee and his wife. He is one of the first in the country to perform “No Stitch” small incision cataract surgery.
MAY 1992
Radial Keratotomy Introduced
Dr. Filutowski performs his first Radial Keratotomy. The demand for his clinical and surgical services increases, leading him to begin construction of his own office and surgical center building in Daytona.
MARCH 1993
Daytona Office Opens
The Filutowski Eye Institute moves into the new 14,000 sq. ft. institute. Dr. Filutowski becomes one of a few surgeons in the nation performing ALK, correcting high levels of nearsightedness as well as farsightedness.
JUNE 1996
Lake Mary Office Underway
Filutowski Eye Institute purchases property along the I-4 Lake Mary corridor for a second office and surgical center. Construction starts a year later.
AUGUST 1998
LASIK Introduced
Dr. Filutowski becomes the first surgeon in Central Florida to perform LASIK with a newly FDA-approved laser. Both offices continue to grow and employ more than 100 personnel.
AUGUST 2002
Bladeless LASIK Introduced
Dr. Filutowski acquires Florida’s first IntraLase Femtosecond Laser—one of a few in the world—allowing him to lead the way in offering his patients the first ever all-laser, “bladeless” LASIK surgery.

Orlando Office Opens
In order to more conveniently serve patients in south Orlando, Dr. Filutowski selects MetroWest as the location for the third office.
JANUARY 2005
ICL Introduced
Dr. Filutowski begins offering the Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL), helping patients with high degrees of nearsightedness that could not be corrected by LASIK.
AUGUST 2008
Lake Mary Office Expands
The Lake Mary office begins an expansion, nearly doubling its size to 30,000 sq. ft.
JUNE 2010
Rotunda Appears
Patients are now able to enjoy the completed Lake Mary renovation, which offers a one-of-a-kind LASIK Rotunda that houses various lasers utilized in refractive surgery.

LenSx Laser Introduced
Dr. Filutowski acquires Central Florida’s first LenSx laser. He becomes Central Florida’s first and most experienced laser cataract surgeon.

Solar Panels Installed
The Filutowski Eye Institute goes green and installs solar panels on top of the Lake Mary facility.

iStent Introduced
Dr. Filutowski performs iStent surgery—a new surgical therapy for glaucoma. iStent is the smallest medical device thus far approved by the FDA.

Zeiss Visumax Laser Introduced
We have two Visumax lasers (one in Lake Mary and one in Orlando). This laser is one of the newest technologies available in laser vision correction and allows for a more gentle procedure known as SMILE.

Dr. Filutowski performs his first ReLex SMILE procedure, making him one of the first in the country and the first in Central Florida to perform the procedure! SMILE is the third generation of laser vision correction.
