With the Light Adjustable Lens, you’re in control.  Test-drive your vision after surgery, fine-tune it to match your lifestyle, and achieve results with confidence! The Light Adjustable Lens has special light-sensitive molecules that allow it to be adjusted after surgery. In a quick and painless treatment, a controlled beam of UV light from the Light Delivery Device™ (LDD™) is used to customize the lens power, which determines how your eye focuses and views the world.
Using your input and your doctor’s expertise, the LDD non-invasively will deliver UV light to your Light Adjustable Lens to adjust the power of your lens. This technology gives your doctor the flexibility to make adjustments and refinements to help meet your visual goals. Between 1 and 3 light treatments, each lasting approximately 90 seconds, are required. The total number of light treatments is based on how many treatments are needed to refine your vision.
Please note: A driver is strongly recommended for all light treatments.
Once you have achieved your optimal vision, the lens power will be permanently locked with two final light treatments to prevent any further changes. When you experience the results of your adjustments, you will better understand the value of this vision customization after your surgery.
LAL Patients will need to wear UV blocking glasses from immediately after surgery until 24 hours after final lock-in treatment. DO NOT use tanning beds during this period. A driver is STRONGLY recommended for all LAL treatment and lock-in appointments. You will use preservative free tears 4-6 times a day from the time of surgery.
