Cataract Surgery
Remove clouding lenses and regain bright, clear vision.
What Are Cataracts?
A cataract occurs when the natural lens of the eye becomes cloudy. As this clouding develops, vision blurs and colors are distorted, and everyday activities like reading or driving—especially at night—can become more difficult. For most, cataracts are a natural result of aging, but cataracts can also be caused by eye injuries, certain diseases, and certain steroids.

Cataract Surgery Options
The only way to get rid of a cataract is to surgically remove the clouded lens and replace it with an intraocular lens implant (IOL). At the Filutowski Eye Institute, we create a personalized surgical plan for you based on your lifestyle and visual goals.
We offer two types of treatment plans to our patients.
Basic Cataract Surgery
Basic cataract surgery removes the clouded lens and replaces it with a basic intraocular lens to restore vision lost due to cataracts.
- Restores vision lost as a result of cataracts
- Generally covered by most medical insurances
- Many patients still require glasses for near or distance after the procedure
- Any LASIK procedure after is not included
Premium Cataract Surgery
Recommended for patients who want greater freedom from glasses or contacts
Premium cataract surgery includes advanced lens technology, testing, surgical planning, and additional postoperative services designed to help you live a life free from contacts and glasses after your cataract procedure.
- Can correct farsightedness, nearsightedness, astigmatism, and presbyopia
- Not covered by insurance
- Most patients do not need glasses after the procedure
- LASIK touch-up included if needed after the procedure
Cataract Surgery Pricing
Basic Cataract Surgery is typically partially covered by medical insurance. Some patients may still have a co-pay. Please call to verify if we accept your insurance plan or check our list of insurance plans. If you are unsure of your plan’s benefits, our billing specialists can confirm with your insurance provider.
Premium Cataract Surgery is an additional cost to fees for basic cataract surgery. We offer financing through CareCredit for out of pocket expenses.
